Beginner's Lolita Guide

Since, I see a lot of lolita newbie posts everywhere. I'll make an easy guide/list of where to buy lolita gear.

Okay, so you've fallen in love with lolita clothes and you want to start dressing in it...

Hellolace and Lolibrary are your best friends! They are catalogs of brands and clothes. This will give you an idea of what style/brand you like and the retail cost of dresses you like.

Hellolace has a Shopping/How/Where to buy guide including Second-hand and which stores do international shipping. EGL Community can help with some questions but be sure to browse the archives first, many of the questions you have can be answered there!

I buy second-hand since it's the cheapest way to get my favorite brands. Here's the list of sites I regularly check.

Second-hand shops that ship from Japan, these all DO NOT require a shopping service to the US

Alice + Fururun
Closet Child (navigate in English)
Usagi Youhinten
Tokyo Alice (you have to email to buy from them)

For looking at foreign sites get Google Chrome and it'll translate the site to your native language.

EGL Community Sales this is to buy second-hand from private sellers. You will need to have an EGL Feedback page before you start buying or selling. Whether you are buying or selling, check the user's feedback! If there is negative or neutral feedback scroll through so you can figure out why, it may be that they are not very good with payment plans then avoid payment plans with that user. Remember to read a sales post completely if there are any damages or stains, the environment it is coming from (such as a smoker) so that you won't be caught with any surprises if you buy from them. There is always risk to buying from a private seller, so avoid gift payments and make sure that they send with tracking.

For cheap lolita clothing:

Bodyline relatively good quality for the price, check the photos for details to avoid dresses made with bad lace or fabric quality.

I would also recommend Taobao shops but I have yet to make an order yet.

For lolita wigs:

The best: Cyperous ($30 shipping charge for any amount) and Prisila (requires SS)
The reasonable price and quality: Gothic Lolita Wigs (free shipping w/in US), Lockshop (expensive shipping outside of Europe)
The cheap: eBay

Review: G&G Shinny Green (known as Puffy 3 tone) and Vassen Dolly Plus Red

I bought from Pinky Paradise but it was so long ago that I can't find the tracking or anything to say how long it took to arrive and I already made a post on Pinky Paradise that it doesn't really matter.

Anyway, my total was $56.30 for two pairs of circle lenses

I got two free items; fringe holding things and under eye face mask.

Here are they worn:

I love the green lenses so much! The color really shows up on dark brown eyes and the three tones makes them look very natural and pretty, they're definitely my favorite lenses and I plan to buy more the same series in different colorways.

The red ones are fun and I already had the grey color that I already knew how they were going to be, it's a little scary and intense for everyday wear.

I definitely recommend G&G Shinny Green for people looking for green circle lenses that are both natural looking and show up very well on dark brown eyes. In general, Pinky Paradise is a good place to shop for circle lenses, especially since they have many customer photos that show how they look like on different eye colors and shapes.

Review: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright San Francisco Online Shop

I bought from the Baby SF online shop for the first time! They had a short summer sale and I snagged the Twinkle Doll OP.

Shipping was $20 because of USPS Priority Shipping.

I ordered (July 4th)
Order shipped (July 5th)
Order arrived (July 8th)

They didn't send a tracking number, even though it was priority shipping, which I thought was weird but it came right away.

I'll buy from them again when there's another sale!

It came with a postcard and BtSSB sticker!

Review: Luxystone Rakuten and Aquadoll wigs

I've been looking for some more natural colored wigs and I was looking for cheaper options than Cyperous (which I love) or Prisila (which I've heard good things about)

I found Aquadoll on Rakuten and the prices were reasonable enough, around the same prices as Gothic Lolita Wigs or Lockshop.

They do not take Paypal, I paid with card, most are accepted such as Mastercard, Visa, Amex, etc.

I got two wigs
(3980 x 2) + 1680 (shipping) = 9640 yen

I ordered (July 3rd)
Shipped out with EMS (July 4th)
Received (July 8th)

Very fast shipping! They come with little bags to help keep their shape.

I got wg043 in SBK and wg004 in LNB

SBK: shiny black

LNB: light natural brown

Here are they worn:

Not as natural looking as I would have liked. They also have a weird shape that make me look like a cone-head (it's more noticeable in the photo on the left where there's a point), it also may be because I don't have much real hair to tie up underneath that the wigs are pretty big. I don't like the brown color, the highlights are too bright for me.

I would recommend Luxystone if you are not looking for very high quality wigs but want some cheaper natural colored wigs and want them fast! But if you want better wigs, it would be better to invest in Cyperous wigs instead.

Review: Uniqso and Barbie (Dueba) Kira Kira Blue

I've been meaning to write a review on Uniqso and experience I had with them.

Anyway, Uniqso intrigued me in the cheap prices of the circle lenses, cheaper than Pinky Paradise. I also had a 10% discount code YTN10

Anyway, I tested the site out by buying Barbie Kira Kira Blue. The site has changed when I first bought it because each lens was sold separately, now they sell in pairs, it obviously looks really cheap when they have the prices for only one lens.

My total was $13.82!!! Less than $14 for circle lenses with shipping included!!!

I ordered (March 8th)
Order is shipped and got tracking # (March 10th)
I received (March 23rd)

It took around 2 weeks to arrive, same as Pinky Paradise (also located in Malaysia like Pinky Paradise).

Here are they worn:

They are 16.2 mm, quite larger than I'm used to but they look quite natural and aren't very noticeable. The color doesn't show very well with my dark brown eyes but they're nice for enlarging my eyes.

Comfort 5/5
Color 3/5
Enlargement 5/5 good dolly look!

I would recommend Uniqso for circle lens buyers and will buy more from them in the future!
